Job Overview

The Student Orientation Coordinator (SOC) position at Susquehanna University is a paid para-professionalized student position focused on planning, designing, and facilitating events, programming, managing, and training other student leaders, and communication for incoming students. SOCs collaborate with one another to help implement various First-Year Experience responsibilities.

Compensation

  • Fall & Spring: $9.00 per hour
  • Summer: $9.50 per hour
  • Commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per week on average during the Fall & Spring and 15-20 hours per week on average during the Summer

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment, interviews, and selection of the Orientation Team
  • Assist with first-year programming during the academic year
  • Assist with Take Flight Orientation planning, O-Team selection, and weekly meetings
  • Assist with Take Flight Orientation planning, O-Team training creation and facilitation, Pre-Flight Programs administrative work, etc.
  • Act as the primary liaison to orientation leaders
  • Manage the social media account for First-Year Experience
  • Assist in managing the firstyear@susqu.edu email account
  • Assist with the facilitation of O-Team training, Pre-Flight Programs, Move-In Day, Take Flight Orientation, and Welcome Week activities

Requirements

  • Education: Sophomore or Junior in any major with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Previous leadership experience working with new students and/or major SU events preferred, but not required
  • At least one-year previous experience as an O-Team member strongly preferred, but not required
  • Prior campus involvement in work-study, club leadership, or other campus roles preferred, but not required
  • Must have valid driver's license
