Job Overview

The City of Monroe is seeking a Civil Engineer I - Water Resources to join our team. This position involves participating in the design and construction of various public works and utility facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and be able to work under limited supervision. Compensation

Between $59k and $99k per year

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design public utility and public works infrastructure projects
  • Prepare project plans and specifications
  • Conduct plans review
  • Inspect construction projects for conformance to plans and specifications
  • Provide technical information to contractors and the general public
  • Engage in engineering research
  • Assist in the preparation of contractor proposals and contract papers
  • Maintain engineering files and records

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil or environmental engineering or related field
  • Moderate experience in public works or utility engineering, including the review of engineering drawings and specifications
  • Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina
  • Possession of Engineering Intern certificate
