Job Overview

At HNTB, we are seeking Environmental Planning Interns for Summer 2024 at our Rocky Hill, Connecticut Office. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work under close supervision and assist assigned departments and/or projects with basic administrative support work and related tasks. This is a part-time, temporary, or co-op position.

Compensation

Relocation and housing are NOT provided for these positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks specific to a particular functional area such as preparing reports, tracking and evaluating results, coordinating program developments, answering the phone, receiving messages, transmitting information, making copies, editing documents, handling routine inquiries, and making appointments.
  • Participate in meetings and interface with various teams.
  • Assist management in analyzing various data.
  • Work on special projects and provide research as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
  • Pursuing a major in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Sciences, Environmental Resource Management, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Studies, Fishery or Forestry, Ecology, Geology, Historic Preservation, Anthropology, Archaeology, or Environmental Planning.
  • Major, coursework, interest in any of the above areas.
  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and various regulations, such as the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Endangered Species Act.
  • Previous internship experience.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • GIS skills.
  • Works well in a team setting.
