Job Overview

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking an Intern to support its public involvement and government relations program. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with work from home options.

Compensation

Starting Salary: Minimum of $15.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Drafting publication, website, and social media content
  • Assisting with the development of social media graphics and messaging
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of social media policy and strategy documents
  • Assisting with the collection and reporting of social media data
  • Assisting with the development of an overall social media strategy and editorial calendar
  • Researching new opportunities and best practices for social media platforms
  • Assisting with the gathering of transportation-related news stories
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of databases
  • Maintaining reports on the outreach and effectiveness of public involvement efforts
  • Assisting with web updates
  • Assisting with evaluation of communications/outreach elements
  • Assisting with elements of marketing/outreach campaigns

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, creative, and ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be attending an accredited college or university during employment
  • Pursuit of a degree in public relations, communications, or a related field is preferred, but not required
  • No work experience required, at least one year of school-related experience preferred
