Intern - Community Outreach and Education

Job Location

Remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Richmond, CA

Job Overview

As an Intern for the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition for Health Against Tobacco (API-CHAT), you will work closely with the Project Director (PD) and Project Coordinator (PC) to engage and educate the AANHPI community and local health policy leaders. You will coordinate trainings and workshops on tobacco control policies and community organizing skills, as well as maintain APICHAT's social media presence.

Compensation

  • $1,060 per semester
  • Part-time, working 3-4 hours per week
  • Off during holidays and most weekends

Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate an annual tobacco advocate day event
  • Recruit and outreach to the AANHPI community and stakeholders
  • Conduct outreach at various community events
  • Maintain APICHAT's social media platforms
  • Participate in meetings and workshops for tobacco control policies
  • Implement and coordinate evaluation of workshops, presentations, surveys, interviews, and observation surveys
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the PD

Requirements

  • Enrolled in classes at Contra Costa Community College or Diablo Valley College (part-time and full-time students welcome)
  • Passionate about public health, social change, and tobacco control policies
  • Proficient in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram)
  • Ability to travel required
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends
