Job Overview

As a Chemist Intern, you will support applications and product development efforts. You will work on proposed applications, establish a planned approach, conduct experiments, interpret results, and present data to the management team. Structured thinking and experience with volatiles are crucial for this position. You will also document and communicate research and development information to associates and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all safety rules and company policies
  • Implement NexTier's Quality policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of the current market
  • Conduct R&D projects for NexTier and document results
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to solve technical problems
  • Support various service lines, including engineering, with compatibility testing and fluid studies
  • Maintain lab equipment and ensure functionality
  • Formulate slurries/fluids to meet oil company requirements
  • Comply with NexTier's product development processes
  • Coordinate with external laboratories for non-standard testing
  • Stay updated on volatile analyses and developments in the oil and gas service industry
  • Provide suggestions to improve laboratory operations and instrument development
  • Test products as needed for specific applications
  • Perform other assigned duties by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Extensive technical knowledge of operations, products, company policies, and government regulations
  • Excellent understanding of analytical chemistry and quantitative analyses
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities with tight deadlines
  • Adaptability to changing working conditions
