Job Overview

Peraton is seeking a highly motivated Background Investigator to join our team in Brooklyn, NY. As a Background Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting in-person background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $26.80

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete a full-time, 6-7 week new Investigator training
  • Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations
  • Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects and their contacts
  • Perform record searches at various institutions
  • Type and report all obtained information in a clear and concise manner
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Adhere to government standards for background investigations

Requirements

  • Candidates with 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree may be considered
  • Experience conducting DCSA/NBIB or other federal background investigations preferred
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Daily travel required, both locally and outside primary work area
  • Home office required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Accurate and efficient typing skills (40+ WPM recommended)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with others
  • Must maintain confidentiality and exhibit integrity
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and endure long periods of standing
  • Proficient grammar and writing skills
