Job Overview

As a Database Administrator Intern, you will assist senior administrators with database changes, SQL and database tuning, workload management, automation, and scheduling of tasks. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with team leads, automation engineers, and business intelligence teams.

  • Sophomore: $3,922.00
  • Junior: $4,266.00
  • Senior: $4,493.00
  • Masters: $5,406.00
  • PhD: $6,366.00

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior database administrators with database changes, SQL, and tuning
  • Manage workload and automate tasks
  • Monitor backups and alerts
  • Collaborate with team leads, database administrators, automation engineers, and business intelligence teams
  • Assist in the automated deployment of databases using automation tools
  • Integrate Rest APIs for alerting and automating common tasks
  • Utilize python and shell scripting for automated reporting
  • Facilitate self-service integration of databases in Service Now

Requirements

  • Actively seeking a 4-year college degree, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Familiarity with large-scale database architectures
  • Strong experience with enterprise Linux or Unix environments and shell scripting
  • Knowledge of enterprise security solutions such as LDAP and Active Directory
  • Proficiency in other RDBMS, such as Oracle or MS SQL Server
  • Familiarity with source code control methodology (GitHub)
  • Understanding of network configuration, protocols, and optimizations
  • Knowledge of Java development, debugging, and profiling
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of database capacity, bottlenecks, memory utilization, CPU usage, OS, storage, and networks
  • Understanding of on-premise and Cloud network architectures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
