Summer Associate Internship (Data Scientist - Compliance Public Policy)

Job Overview

  • Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking a Summer Associate Intern in the Data Scientist - Compliance Public Policy role.
  • As part of the Compliance-Complaints team, the Summer Associate will assist in managing complaints submitted to regulatory bodies and internal sources.
  • This is a 12-week internship program, beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Complaints data within Mission Data's Data Lake and other sources
  • Analyze Complaints data to understand and predict trends
  • Develop suggestions and recommendations for strategic initiatives based on findings and research
  • Present proposals to Upper Management and Senior Executives
  • Manage, architect, and analyze Complaints data to build data-driven insights
  • Enhance the existing Regulatory Risk Complaints Identification model
  • Evaluate model design, performance, and provide recommendations

Technical skills:

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Data Science, Data & Analytics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related
  • Data interpretation, qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Natural Language Processing
  • Data mining and transformation skills
  • Skill in Python, SQL, and Data Querying
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies (Apache Spark, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure ML, Microsoft Azure, Databricks)
  • Programming languages and databases
  • Understanding of systems architecture
  • Familiarity with Data Engineering concepts (ETL tools and techniques)
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and modeling lifecycle
  • Data management, data validation/cleansing, and information analysis skills
