Summer Associate Internship (Data Scientist - Fair Lending)

Job Overview
Navy Federal's Fair Lending Program is seeking a Summer Associate Intern to join their analytics team. The program focuses on identifying and analyzing gaps in business processes and policies to mitigate risk. As an intern, you will work on various projects and gain experience in data analysis and reporting. This is a 12-week internship position beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024.

Responsibilities
- Support and assist Data Scientists and Modelers in analytical projects using internal and publicly sourced data
- Conduct research and provide feedback on projects and products
- Assist with data management, analysis, and reporting efforts
- Develop and present findings to senior executives
- Participate in the daily operations of the analytics team
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, or a related field
- Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation
- Proficiency in data and analytic tools such as PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, SAS, SPSS Modeler, R, Python, Tableau, and/or ArcGIS
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and think critically
- Familiarity with Natural Language Processing techniques a plus
- Basic knowledge of financial services/payments and federal financial regulations a plus
