Job Overview

At Battelle, we are looking for a talented Chemical Engineering Intern to join our Energy Division team. This paid position offers up to 40 hours per week of hands-on learning and exciting projects. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact and contribute to solving some of humanity's most pressing challenges. Compensation

  • Hourly pay
  • Up to 40 hours per week
  • Beginning in May 2024

Responsibilities

As a Chemical Engineering Intern at Battelle, your responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting laboratory and pilot scale testing following established procedures
  • Drafting test plans and operating laboratory and bench scale test equipment
  • Analyzing and reporting technical data
  • Performing modeling to support process design and scale-up
  • Assisting with research on new technologies in areas such as rare earth element recovery, carbon capture, hydrogen technologies, and chemical processing.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an ABET-accredited Chemical Engineering program
  • At least 18 months of college experience completed
  • Related work experience (paid or unpaid) in the engineering discipline
  • Experience working in a lab environment, including preparing, conducting, and documenting tests
  • Familiarity with ChemCAD or Aspen modeling software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to take on technical challenges
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be a US person as defined by US export laws
