Job Overview

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking Summer Mechanical Engineering interns to join their team. This internship program offers a unique opportunity to work on-site or virtually, with regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and customized training by business units. Interns will gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker in the US and globally. They will have the chance to understand firsthand what a career at Stanley Black & Decker is like and build a cross-functional professional network.

Responsibilities

During the internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support Mechanical Engineering with key activities
  • Design and prototype innovative product concepts
  • Perform engineering design tasks for new product development and cost reduction projects
  • Prepare possible solutions and decision matrix for technical direction
  • Assist in developing and testing new products that meet design, marketing, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements
  • Proactively consider cost, performance, and durability tradeoffs

You will work with a cross-functional team of professionals, including Product Design Group, Testing, Regulatory, Quality, Product Marketing, and Manufacturing.

Requirements

The Summer Mechanical Engineering intern candidate will preferably have the following qualifications:

  • Rising Senior, Target graduation date in 2025
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong Academic Credentials
  • Basic CAD and Drafting
  • Courses in basic Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Embedded software a plus
  • Experience working with and designing sheet metal parts, stampings, welded assemblies, and injection molded plastic parts
  • Successfully manage strong academics with extracurricular activities
