Job Overview

Stanley Black & Decker is offering a unique internship opportunity for college students interested in Mechanical Engineering. As an intern, you will have the chance to work on innovative product concepts related to consumer power tools and gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of the company, both in the US and globally. Throughout the internship, you can expect regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and customized training. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your professional network and experience a cross-functional work environment.

Compensation

  • Competitive compensation package
  • A flexible schedule with a maximum of 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

During your internship, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and prototyping innovative product concepts related to consumer power tools or related fields
  • Performing engineering design tasks for new product development and cost reduction projects
  • Preparing possible solutions and decision matrix to assist in determining the technical direction
  • Assisting in developing and testing new products that meet design, marketing, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements
  • Supporting manufacturing facilities and supply chain on design-related issues for products currently in production
  • Proactively considering cost, performance, and durability tradeoffs to help meet project cost targets
  • Collaborating with a cross-functional team of professionals including Product Design Group, Testing, Regulatory, Quality, Product Marketing, and Manufacturing

Requirements

  • Rising Senior, targeting graduation date in 2025
  • Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Basic CAD and drafting skills
  • Courses in basic Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Embedded Software are a plus
  • Experience working with and designing sheet metal parts, stampings, welded assemblies, and injection molded plastic parts
  • Ability to manage strong academics with extracurricular activities
