Job Overview
CHS Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer Intern to provide technical support assistance to refinery Mechanical Engineers at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, Kansas. In this role, you will contribute to achieving optimal performance while adhering to company safety, environmental, and economic guidelines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for success in this position.
Compensation
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support assistance to refinery Mechanical Engineers and Inspectors to ensure equipment reliability and performance within company guidelines.
- Assist with mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, fitness for service evaluations, equipment repair plan development, materials selection, root cause failure analysis, and troubleshooting equipment performance.
- Collaborate with Process Engineers on the design and installation of new projects and unit improvements.
- Identify and report safety, health, and environmental issues that may impact operations and personnel.
- Undertake projects such as equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, research investigations, and report preparation.
- Adhere to all personal protective equipment requirements, including respirators.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering program at a four-year college/university.
- Available to work 40 hours per week.
- Currently a Junior enrolled in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering program at a four-year college/university (preferred).
- Previous internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry (preferred).
