Summer Associate Internship (Baseline Analytics Data Engineer)

Vienna, VA
Job Overview
As a member of the Baseline Analytics Data Engineering team, the Data Engineer Summer Associate will focus on creating new data pipelines using powerful cloud tools to deliver data and insights to analysts at NFCU. The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship.
Compensation
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Responsibilities
- Design and develop data pipeline features using spark, SQL, Python, Databricks, and Azure Synapse
- Design Delta Files and Database tables with metrics and context for insights
- Participate in an agile and fast-moving engineering process
- Understand and explore complex data sets
- Improve performance and reliability of production code
- Ensure integrity, accuracy, and relevance of presented data
Requirements
- Pursuing Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, or related field
- Experience programming with Python and SQL
- Analytical mindset with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Team player with enthusiasm for collaboration and continuous learning
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Desired Qualifications
- Azure Certified Data Engineer
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer
- Experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
- Engineering experience in big data environments, including data lakes, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Redshift, Snowflake
