Finance Business Partner Intern - Climate & Sustainability

Job Overview

This internship role will be based in the Worldwide Finance organization and will involve working closely with Global Procurement, Corporate FP&A, Controllership, and the Climate and Sustainability teams. The intern will have the opportunity to gain insights into how a company focuses on sustainability across its operations and supply chain. The role will involve identifying automation opportunities, improving net zero expenditure management, and forecasting efficiencies resulting from climate-related asset investment.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate Mastercard's historical spend on energy and capital projects, such as Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, to identify potential areas for automation and improvement in net zero expenditure management.
  • Collaborate with a team to support the development of Mastercard's operational and supply chain sustainability program.
  • Review existing financial controls related to environmental metrics and targets, and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Assist with climate assessments and reporting projects, including analysis aligned with TCFD, SEC Climate Rule, EU Taxonomy expectations, EU CSRD, and GHG Protocol.
  • Conduct research to identify regional and global trends, summarize best practices, and develop key performance metrics and reporting.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or accelerated graduate program, with a projected graduation date of December 2024 or beyond.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from data to support business objectives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve exceptional results.
  • Familiarity with ESG initiatives, standards, and trends, especially those relevant to the technology industry.
  • Knowledge of global environmental issues, including climate change, and the role of the private sector in addressing these challenges.
  • Proven project management skills, including process documentation, timeline development, and communication of value propositions.
  • Track record of successful project execution and deadline management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication abilities, particularly when interacting with senior management.
