In this position, you will be a member of Bayer's global Small Molecule R&D (Emerging Technologies) team to drive innovation and discover novel solutions for crop protection. You will have the opportunity to be part of a cross-functional working group together with experts in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, cell biology, and data science to deliver on enabling technologies and discovery initiatives supporting weed, disease, and pest control. Compensation

B.S or M.S program at a university in the U.S., majoring in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related fields. Current enrollment in a B.S or M.S program at a university in the U.S., majoring in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related fields. Must have completed at least sophomore year of college prior to the start date of the position (May 2024). Must be returning to school to continue program of study upon completion of summer internship. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale. Experience in cloning and/or biochemical assay development. Skills in experimental design and experience working in highly collaborative environment. Effectively communicates research findings in oral or written format. Interest in a career in industrial molecular biology, biology, biochemistry or chemistry or graduate school after completion of B.S. or M.S degree. Publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating scientific competency.

Responsibilities

  • Generate expression constructs of target genes to enable in vitro and in vivo experiments including cell assays and/or in vivo studies using transformed cell lines
  • Design, establish and perform in vitro enzymatic assays and cellular assays to evaluate small molecule screening technologies for binding and functional modulation of targets
  • Perform cellular validation studies of targets, pathways, using relevant imaging, biophysical, etc. assays to understand target engagement
  • Effectively communicate and interpret the results of experimental assays, make recommendations for next steps and development to partners and key stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of recent science and technological development in relevant research areas and exploit them improve functional area capabilities. Presentation of research outcome internally and/or externally will be expected

Requirements
