Job Overview:

  • The Department of the Navy is seeking a Shift Test Supervisor in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF. The supervisor will be responsible for providing management control of nuclear engineering work involved with the testing, installation, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of naval vessel propulsion plant systems. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary and pay grade of GS 13. Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $109,546 - $142,408 per year
  • Pay scale & grade: GS 13

Responsibilities:

  • Provide management control of nuclear engineering work involved with the testing, installation, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of naval vessel propulsion plant systems.
  • Act as an authority in resolving problems of a critical and technically complex nature.
  • Coordinate with other shipyard organizations to provide the support necessary for the conduct of tests or operations.
  • Direct reactor plant operations related to the conduct of acceptance tests or dynamic changes to the plant which support overhaul work.
  • Provide technical direction for a large number of ships force personnel, production shop personnel, and quality assurance inspectors.
  • Negotiate agreements where there are conflicting interests and opinions among organizations having valid concerns and among individuals who are themselves expert in the area of nuclear reactor plant testing and evaluation.
  • Develop specific short-range plans for testing and operations relating to work performed on naval nuclear ships.
  • Interact with contacts to provide the technical information necessary to gain acceptance of a plan of action or a response to a problem.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
