Job Overview

Teleflex is a global provider of clinically effective medical technologies designed to improve the health and quality of people's lives. As an R&D Co-Op, you will assist the Engineering team in development, testing, and administrative tasks related to current projects in the Surgical business unit. This internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the R&D Engineering team in daily functions to support the Surgical Business Unit
  • Update specifications, create drawings, and draft protocols using engineering techniques
  • Conduct lab feasibility testing and verification testing on surgical products
  • Develop test methods and fixtures for a wide range of potential testing
  • Follow test requests, work instructions, and protocols for testing execution
  • Record data generated from testing (Data collection and GDP)
  • Support testing with component/sample sorting and preparation, data organization, set-up, and clean-up
  • Assist in test method development and analysis for root cause investigations
  • Utilize lab equipment to perform product testing
  • Continuously improve test methods, data collection methods, forms, and process standardization
  • Provide departmental support as requested by supervisors
  • Represent R&D engineering as a team member on design control projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally
  • Write reports and create presentations on work completed
  • Present data and reports at management meetings
  • Assist in the research, development, and design of next-generation and new surgical products
  • Assist in data analysis and clinical education opportunities
  • Demonstrate professional responsibilities and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in mechanical, biomedical, or any related engineering field
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • One year of medical device or related design experience is a major plus
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Some 3D CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and adopt an effective course of action
  • Willingness to learn about Teleflex Inc. products and the medical device industry
