Job Overview

The Academic Advisor will be a key member of the Office of Student Success, engaging undergraduate students in promoting all dimensions of student success. In addition to general advising duties, the Academic Advisor will also assist with various aspects of transition, retention, progression, and post-commencement planning.


  • Full-time position
  • Exempt status


  • Offer advice and guidance on course selection and academic programs, while encouraging exploration of various majors
  • Communicate curricular requirements for general education and academic programs
  • Understand and interpret University policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and understand the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Plan, monitor, and assist students in progression towards graduation
  • Collaborate with divisions, staff, and faculty across campus to support student success
  • Document advising sessions with students
  • Administer appropriate interventions when student concerns arise
  • Create a welcoming and caring environment for students
  • Assist in the development of educational and career plans
  • Facilitate workshops/presentations for students on topics related to Student Success
  • Disseminate/collect data through surveys
  • Participate in staffing Academic Affairs unit related events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and/or Senior Director


  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in teaching, counseling, or administration in higher education
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports
