Job Overview

The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) is offering an internship opportunity for post-doctorate's degree individuals seeking experience in the area of vaccines, therapeutic development, and pathogenesis for emerging infectious diseases.

Compensation

  • Stipend to be determined by USAMRIID
  • Health Insurance Supplement (Participants are eligible to purchase health insurance through ORISE)
  • Training and Travel Allowance

Responsibilities

  • Participate in investigations leading to an understanding of mechanisms of replication, antigenic structures, correlates of protection, and virulence properties of highly pathogenic human viruses.
  • Conduct research in BSL2, BSL3, and BSL4 containment laboratories.
  • Engage in activities and research in various areas, including virology, immunology, pathology, and molecular biology.
  • Learn from experienced scientists and acquire essential skills of study design, laboratory techniques, data analysis, results interpretation, and research presentation.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in related biological science majors: immunology, virology, or entomology.
  • Laboratory experience in adaptive immunology and virology, preferably in BSL3.
  • Must obtain and hold Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) enrollment.
  • Must maintain current certification of enrollment in the BPRP.
  • Approval by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice for access.
