Job Overview

  • The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) is offering a summer internship for a business analyst.
  • As an intern, you will work on impactful projects in Philadelphia alongside diverse teams at PIDC.
  • This internship will provide you with foundational knowledge in nonprofit management, impact investing and public finance, and urban economic development.
  • You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems and contribute to the mission of spurring investment, supporting business growth, and driving growth in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data and generate impact reports for funders and stakeholders.

    • Support PIDC's New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) application by analyzing data and producing dashboards, maps, and impact reports.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure compelling and accurate data in public-facing reports and documents.
  • Assist with PIDC's impact assessment needs.

    • Collaborate on internal data audits, mapping out data, and recommending strategies to optimize impact reporting and portfolio analysis.
    • Analyze financial and socioeconomic data using analytical software like Excel, Tableau, GIS, and Policy Map.
    • Help maintain databases in Microsoft Access, Excel, MySQL, and Salesforce.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of PIDC's products and services.

    • Develop and administer surveys and other tools to evaluate PIDC's products and support product evaluation, fundraising, and future development.
    • Analyze and report on how sustainable financing products, new green services, and partnerships could advance Philadelphia's role in developing a 21st-century economy.
  • Manage special projects and research assignments.

    • Review AERIS impact ratings assigned to PIDC and identify improvement areas.
    • Conduct research (e.g., case studies) and produce reports of findings.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate students pursuing a degree in business, urban planning, data science, or liberal arts (BA or BS degree).
  • Knowledge or experience in community development and urbanism preferred.
  • Advanced experience in Excel and Tableau. Experience in GIS, PolicyMap, Access, and Salesforce is a plus.
  • Superior quantitative analytical and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial institutions and foundations that support community development preferred.
  • Passion for the city of Philadelphia and enthusiasm for PIDC's mission.
  • The Capitalization and Impact Team is typically in the Center City office Monday-Thursday.
