Job Overview

The Charleston Parks Conservancy is offering a year-long Community Horticulture Fellowship Program, designed to advance opportunities for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in horticultural leadership. Participants will engage in experiential learning, professional development, and leadership training, with the goal of securing a leadership position in the field of Horticulture.

Compensation

  • Starting Date: October 2023
  • Time and Compensation: 12 months, average 40 hours/week, some nights and weekends expected.
  • Annual salary: $40,000 plus benefits (Dental insurance, Health insurance, Health savings account, Paid time off, Vision insurance)

Responsibilities

  • Engage in skills training, leadership, and professional development courses in the parks and with program partners.
  • Develop and complete a capstone project to refine horticultural knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • Recent associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in horticulture or related field OR
  • Current enrollment in a horticulture or related degree program with graduation before the fellowship start date OR
  • At least two years of field experience in landscaping, gardening, or horticulture industries in South Carolina, with a desire to develop skills in a horticulture capacity.
