Job Overview

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our collaborative community. As a Science Teacher, you will have the opportunity to spark curiosity in scholars by using local and global phenomena to teach scientific concepts. Your role will contribute to our mission of providing a quality education and supporting students in earning a four-year college degree.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $68,850 - $128,885

  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision plan options are covered at 100% of monthly premiums for individual employees and at least $1,000 per month towards medical family plan premiums.

  • Retirement: Participation in the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS).

  • Paid Leave: Five weeks of paid leave during school breaks, plus sick leave that accrues at one day per month.

  • Professional Development: Extensive school-based and network-wide professional development opportunities, including two weeks of training for new hires.

  • Leadership Opportunities: Opportunities for growth and leadership development within the Alliance community.

  • Recognition: Teacher of the Year awards provide special recognition and compensation to outstanding teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Use NGSS aligned curricula to engage scholars in learning science and engineering practices.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative classroom culture that motivates and inspires scholars to achieve at college-preparatory levels.
  • Demonstrate strong content expertise, instructional and classroom management skills, and effective evaluation and assessment techniques.
  • Continuously develop and improve teaching craft.
  • Build strong relationships with students and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid California teacher certification in Biology or a related subject area by August 1, 2022.
  • Possess a valid English Learner Authorization (e.g. CLAD) by August 1, 2022.
  • Share Alliance's social justice mission and desire to teach in underserved communities.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Have strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
