Job Overview

  • Join our team as an Advocacy Intern to support the programs and work of the NCJWLA Advocacy Department.
  • Take part in hands-on experiences that contribute to advancing economic justice and equity for working women in Los Angeles.
  • Gain valuable skills in research, program development, community outreach, and advocacy.

Compensation

  • Up to 20 hours per week between May-September 2023 (20 weeks, 10 hours per week).
  • Interns not receiving school credit will be paid $15/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for the planning and implementation of our abortion project, Beyond Roe: Intersections of Abortion Access and Economic Justice.
  • Assist in planning annual advocacy events focused on topics impacting women.
  • Research organizations focusing on economic and community development to expand advocacy programming content and build allyship in Los Angeles.
  • Connect with community stakeholders around our core mission of economic justice and equity for working women.
  • Stay updated on current news in Los Angeles County regarding economic justice, community resources, poverty, housing, non-profit programming, community demographics, children, and policy.
  • Review and edit documents through Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communicate with clients, staff, and external organizations through email and phone to support advocacy staff.

Requirements

  • Proficient skills in either Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word especially) or Google Workspace.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about advancing economic justice and equity for women.
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, resourceful, and ready to make a difference in the community.
