Job Overview

Milwaukee County is seeking Psychology Postdoctoral Fellows to provide direct psychological care to individuals served by the Behavioral Health Services (BHS). Fellows will work under the general supervision of licensed Clinical Psychologists and dedicate at least 65% of their time to providing direct psychological services. This includes diagnostic interviews, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, recovery/treatment planning, individual and/or group psychotherapy, clinical documentation, team meetings, and clinical consultation. The BHS offers various training experiences in Adult Crisis Services and Child/Adolescent Crisis Services. For more information, please visit our website.

Compensation

Salary: $52,500

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct psychological care to individuals with behavioral health needs.
  • Conduct diagnostic interviews and psychological assessments.
  • Offer crisis intervention and recovery/treatment planning.
  • Facilitate individual and/or group psychotherapy.
  • Complete clinical documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary clinical consultations.

Requirements

  • United States citizenship.
  • Completion of all professional doctoral degree requirements in clinical or counseling psychology from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • Anticipated completion of a predoctoral internship meeting the standards established by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). Predoctoral internships accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) are preferred.
  • Possession or anticipated possession of a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants with doctoral degrees from APA accredited institutions are preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychological theory and the application of clinical psychology principles and techniques.
  • Specific training in the treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and guidelines, psychiatric diagnostic nomenclature, treatment planning, and individual/group/family therapy techniques.
  • Training and supervision in group and individual psychotherapy and diagnostic assessment.
  • Leadership ability and knowledge of psychopathology.
  • Risk assessment/management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, multidisciplinary treatment teams, other professionals, community agencies, and others.
