Job Title: Public Information Representative II
Job Location:
5700 Almaden Expressway, San Jose, CA 95118
Job Overview:
The Public Information Representative II (PIR II) temporary position is a key support role for the Office of Civic Engagement's Water Education Program. This role involves scheduling, recruitment, and outreach to schools, libraries, boy/girl scouts, clubs, and summer camps. The PIR II will also conduct lessons in person and via distance learning, support teacher training workshops, facilitate outdoor classroom programming, and develop new programming and lessons as needed.
Compensation:
- Type: Temporary Part Time (20 hours per week average)
- Pay Rate: $48.13/hour
Responsibilities:
- Present educational programs via distance learning or in person
- Support tours at outdoor classroom facilities and other Valley Water presentations to the public
- Assist with materials preparation for school presentations, field trips, and tours
- Support Education Outreach student interns
- Coordinate organization and maintenance of teaching materials
- Assist with teacher training workshops
- Contribute to the creation of educational curriculum, articles, publications, and newsletters
- Work on program outreach and marketing materials, blogs, and social media as assigned
- Assist with data entry and record keeping as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Environmental Studies, Political Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- At least 2 years of professional environmental education, community outreach, and/or communications experience
- Experience working with K-12 grade youth, including school staff such as teachers, educators, and administrators
- Valid California driver's license
