Job Overview

  • Young Life Bronx is seeking an intern to support outreach, program management, and development in Community District 8.
  • The intern will work closely with the Young Life team to engage youth and families and contribute to the mission of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ.

Compensation

  • Unpaid internship opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach for "Young Life Bronx Summer Adventure Saturdays," High School Camp (July 20th-25th), and Middle School Camp (August 1st-5th).
  • Coordinate logistics for program activities, including ordering food, organizing games, and assigning volunteers.
  • Co-lead and manage on-site activities for "Young Life Bronx Summer Adventure Saturdays" in Van Cortlandt Park (mandatory dates: July 8th, July 15th, July 22nd, July 29th, August 5th, and August 12th, 11am-4pm).
  • Assist in reaching enrollment targets for summer programming: at least 15 youth for "Young Life Bronx Summer Adventure Saturdays," 30 participants for High School Camp, and 25 participants for Middle School Camp.
  • Co-lead a group of at least 15 inner-city teens in activities, leadership development, and career/job readiness.
  • Assist with attendance tracking for "Young Life Bronx Summer Adventure Saturdays."
  • Manage Young Life specific reporting tools.
  • Develop a community engagement plan for Community District 8 beyond Summer 2023 (stakeholder analysis, relationship building strategies, marketing, etc.).
  • Secure at least 3 committed adult volunteer leaders to support ongoing work in Community District 8 by the end of Summer 2023.
  • Co-plan and host an "end of summer" get-together for community members, local churches, and families.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing studies in human services, community relations, public administration, and/or psychology.
  • Strong interest in youth, leadership development, community, and strategic planning.
  • Preference will be given to candidates interested in continuing to work with the region beyond Summer 2023.
