Job Overview

The Stone Living Lab is seeking a motivated and energetic intern to assist with public programming and education projects in and around Boston Harbor. This includes tabling events, community cruises, and youth programs. The intern will work under the guidance of the outreach team to conduct enriching public programs on a weekly basis. The majority of the duties will take place outdoors within the Park and around the mainland waterfront.

Compensation

  • Part-time in late spring
  • Full-time in the summer season
  • Flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Work outdoors in and around Boston Harbor with diverse audiences
  • Lead family-friendly activities like arts and crafts
  • Promote program offerings through online calendars and social media
  • Represent Boston Harbor Now and the Stone Living Lab professionally
  • Support program and event management
  • Assist with data collection and analysis
  • Provide customer service via email and phone
  • Research new program ideas and vendors for 2023
  • Manage partner schedules and layouts
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Calendar
  • Experience in facilitating public programming for all ages
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to present solutions to supervisor
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and punctuality
  • Good at taking direction and working with minimal supervision
  • Interest in event planning, creative placemaking, and the nonprofit sector a plus
  • Experience working with families and the public, particularly in an event setting
  • Comfortable leading activities outside in various weather conditions
  • Proficiency or fluency in a second language is a plus
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Belief in the mission of Boston Harbor Now and the Stone Living Lab
