Job Overview

The New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans Associate Program is a ten-month intern-level program that exposes entry-level candidates to the business side of sports. This position will primarily work with the basketball communications and digital media staffs, contributing to the day-to-day operations of both departments. The temporary position is based in New Orleans, LA and will run from July 10, 2023 - April 30, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute daily media clips regarding the Pelicans and the NBA
  • Monitor team coverage from local and national media
  • Assist with the compilation of the team’s written media publications (media guide, game notes, press releases, interview transcripts, postseason guide, etc.)
  • Maintain statistical records and assist with the publication of media materials
  • Assist with interview requests
  • Responsible for the setup of the media room and production of printed materials for media
  • Assist with the execution of the communications plan at all basketball events (draft, press conferences, player appearances, etc.)
  • Compile credential requests and accommodate approved media with credentials for media-related events
  • Prepare and deliver media packets to the opposing teams' hotel
  • Manage day-to-day website tasks including improving functionality/design, making content updates/changes, and improving conversion rates across all Pelicans and Saints websites
  • Perform ongoing QA of digital properties
  • Build pages for digital properties using multiple CMS tools as well as front-end development capabilities

Requirements

  • Recently graduated or rising senior in an accredited bachelor’s degree program
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to New Orleans for ten months
  • Possess an outstanding work ethic, a strong desire to succeed, and a professional demeanor
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Proven knowledge of the NBA, statistics, and basketball terminology to effectively perform duties
  • Ability to react to change efficiently and handle additional tasks as assigned
  • Knowledge and experience with HTML, CSS, and Adobe Analytics preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop) preferred
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as determined by NBA and NFL schedules
