Job Overview

The Food & Nutrition Business Analyst will work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment performing complex computer systems analysis work for Food and Nutrition related Programs within the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). You will facilitate joint application development sessions; developing, documenting, and communicating requirements for system enhancements or new systems to programmers; communicating program policy requirements to programmers and testing new systems or enhancements to applications. Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Compensation

Salary: $5,300.00 - $5,700.00 (Monthly)

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the service request life cycle through customer-related service requests with a strong focus on documentation; Requires close coordination with system vendors and Food and Nutrition Division staff.
  • Develop complex system documents to convey business requirements and support efficient system design.
  • Gather, analyze, and develop recommendations for process improvements and as assigned, map automated solutions.
  • Monitor ongoing maintenance of software systems. Assist in confirming, detailing, and supporting the correction of bugs/defects in F&N software systems and escalate appropriately for resolution.
  • Maintain software system schedules, including system maintenance tables.
  • Develop test plans and participate in user acceptance testing to confirm new and existing system functionality.
  • Oversee the development, analysis and improvement of systems procedures, test procedures and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with software vendors to arrange UAT and Training Environment updates, as assigned.
  • Document system functionality and business use, as assigned.
  • Provide assistance to developers, systems analysts, or customers on system applications, software, and hardware; and provide technical production support to users of systems and applications.
  • Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (one year work experience related to primary responsibilities may substitute for one year of college).
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a System Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role.
  • Work experience with system testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems or related field may substitute for one (1) year of required experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a professional certification in project management, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, business analysis or related may substitute for (1) year of the required experience.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems or related field may substitute for required experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Computer Science, Management Information systems or related field.
  • Work experience with process mapping.
