Job Overview

  • The R&D Battery Co-op will work with the Ionic Materials Battery team focused on developing solid-state polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion energy storage.
  • Responsibilities include hands-on work in the lab, data analysis, and communication of results.
  • Tasks may include preparing polymer-based battery materials, component characterization, battery cell assembly and testing, and other experiments as needed.
  • This is a 6-month co-op position, starting in July 2023.

Compensation

  • Competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of polymers and polymer-based battery materials.
  • Analytical characterization of battery materials.
  • Electrochemical characterization of battery materials.
  • Analysis of experimental data and communication of results to staff scientists and engineers.
  • Battery cell assembly and testing.
  • Follow all safety protocols while at work in a laboratory setting.
  • Taking part in continuous improvement ideas.
  • Ability to work in a glovebox and dry room.
  • Follow, maintain, and improve SOPs in a laboratory setting.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a similarly related field.
  • Demonstrated strong academic track record.
  • Experience working in a lab setting.
  • Ability to follow experimental procedures and carefully document results.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Solid communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with polymer synthesis, battery materials, or electrochemistry preferred.
