Job Overview

The Quality Control Department is an amazing opportunity to begin to understand mix design and how vital quality control is to projects. You will discover the raw component level, which incorporates aggregates, liquid asphalt, and hot mix asphalt through our own blending and mining facilities. Quality Control starts at the beginning of each project and has a presence up until final completion and assurance that all guidelines are met.

Responsibilities

  • Asphalt Mix Design:
    • Aggregate blending for mix designs- incorporating course and fine aggregate to meet the aggregate structure requirements of the mix design
    • HMA Mix design-blending the aggregates with liquid asphalt and recycled asphalt to achieve air voids, specific gravity, and optimum asphalt content for submittal.
    • All co-ops will work side by side with certified technicians and eventually will do some of the procedures unassisted.
  • QC on Projects:
    • Providing assistance in the cutting of core samples on projects for depth measurements.
    • Providing assistance in the cutting of core samples to check for in place density of the HMA material.
    • Providing assistance to certified technicians while profiling projects checking road smoothness.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Associates or Bachelors degree program.
  • Previous knowledge with mix designs and aggregates is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
