Job Overview

University Relations (UR) is a strategic arm of our People & Organization (P&O) and Talent Acquisition (TA) functions at Siemens Digital Industries Software. Our team’s mission is to attract, select, and retain the best, next generation of talent for Siemens Digital Industries Software.

We are currently seeking a Recruiter for our nationwide internship program and entry level talent pipeline – the Strategic Student Program (SSP)! This UR Recruiter will join a team of four individuals who hire, onboard, and support approximately 300 students hired across the US each year. You will assist with high-volume recruiting, attend in-person campus events such as career fairs, and plan events for interns participating in our program. We’re looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas to the team and who is extremely detail oriented.

This position will provide exposure and learning opportunities in relation to a wide array of Human Resources functions, including hiring, retention, compensation, employee engagement, employee relations, and training and development. This is an ideal entry level role for a future HR leader, looking for autonomy and influence within a global organization!

Outside of your team (University Relations), you will need to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders:

  • Hiring Managers across 10 business units
  • Other HR functions – HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Payroll, etc.
  • The Executive Leadership Team
  • Current interns in the program
  • Prospective candidates on college campuses across the US, including student organizations
  • Advisors and other key university contacts on target college campuses

You will learn the Siemens software portfolio as you fill intern positions for 10 internal organizations that have different needs and talent pools.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $32.59 to $59.50. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.

Responsibilities

  • Host intake calls, help hiring managers write effective job descriptions, review resumes, host phone screenings, and coordinate hiring manager interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with internal hiring policies and procedures, as well as applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations (particularly with tracking activity within Siemens’ Applicant Tracking System).
  • Extend written and verbal offers.
  • Partner with HR Operations to complete onboarding for all new hires.
  • Provide regular and consistent communication to hiring managers.
  • Prioritize external partnerships (student organizations, non-profits) that promote diversity.

Not only will you select the best talent to join the program, but you will also help provide a meaningful experience throughout their time as an intern at Siemens. This includes:

  • Hosting orientation and assisting with onboarding.
  • Acting as a “career advisor” for interns during their time at Siemens – be available for 1:1 meetings with students as requested.
  • Planning events to create a well-rounded internship experience: social opportunities, volunteer events, executive speaker sessions, soft-skill training & development workshops.
  • Mediating employee relations issues as needed. Partner with HR BPs for proper follow-up.
  • Overseeing job offers for interns converting to full-time employment post-graduation.
  • Diligently tracking program headcount and future hiring needs.
  • Regularly benchmarking other programs in the tech industry as well as recruiting trends to ensure Siemens maintains a competitive position in the talent market.
  • Serving as a thought-partner with hiring managers, executives, and the UR team. Provide suggestions for program improvement with data to support your business case.
  • Providing an annual presentation of KPIs to the Executive Leadership Team; ensure the program is meeting the needs of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field
  • Currently living in one of the following locations: Cincinnati, OH; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Charlotte, NC; Wilsonville, OR; Fremont, CA
  • Some HR experience, particularly in recruiting, is preferred – but we are more focused on your initiative & eagerness to learn, rather than years of work experience!
  • Experience with HR tools and technology, including Workday and an Applicant Tracking Software (ATS), is a bonus.
  • 25% of travel required - travel to college campuses during peak recruiting seasons for various events – meet & greets, information sessions, career fairs, etc.
  • Interpersonal:
    • Excellent written & verbal communication
    • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
