Job Overview

The psychologist will be responsible for providing direct patient care, conducting psychological assessments, and administering evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions. They will also have administrative responsibilities for managing psychology training programs. This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to effectively manage program resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of psychological assessment services, including the use of psychological testing and diagnostic interviews
  • Educate Veterans, family members, and significant others
  • Administer comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy
  • Consult with professional staff and community providers regarding clinical assessment findings and treatment plans
  • Develop and implement psychotherapeutic treatment plans for assigned patients
  • Function independently as a member of the EPVAHCS Medical Staff, assuming full professional responsibility for clinical assessment findings and patient care decisions
  • Manage and oversee Psychology Training Programs, including recruitment, selection, and evaluation of interns and postdoctoral fellows
  • Coordinate programming within the training program and with other programs in Behavioral Health
  • Manage program resources and supervise staff
  • Administer program evaluations and analyze data to continually improve program effectiveness

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level
  • Experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-13 level
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, delegate tasks, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines
  • Skill in managing and directing the work of others
  • Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and develop effective solutions
