Job Overview

The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Arizona’s Medicaid agency, is seeking a Financial Consultant to join our dynamic and dedicated team. As a Financial Consultant at AHCCCS, you will be responsible for managing FFS fee schedules, reviewing reimbursement rates, and recommending improvements in rate-setting systems and practices.

Compensation

Salary: $68,000 - $72,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Manage FFS fee schedules, including Hospital Outpatient Fee Schedule, Hospital Inpatient APR-DRG Program, and Other Hospital Fee Schedule Methodologies.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend improvements in reimbursement rates and existing rate-setting systems and practices.
  • Develop reimbursement rates by analyzing fiscal impact to the state and financial impact on providers.
  • Implement and maintain fee schedules used to reimburse up to $3 billion in health care services each year.
  • Produce complex financial estimates and related internal financial reporting.
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc auditing and analysis of service utilization, cost of provision, and financial impacts.
  • Advise management on reimbursement rate issues and financial effects of rate and policy changes.
  • Implement DSH supplemental payment program and complete all required reports.
  • Study legislation, rules, policies, and procedural guidelines to devise approaches for implementation.
  • Provide expertise in financial/fiscal data analysis, statistical analysis, and health care industry coding standards.

Requirements

  • Coursework in intermediate/advanced level statistics, applied research methodology, and computer applications.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid payment regulations, rate-setting methodologies, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with mainframe and PC computer systems and application software.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
