Young Professionals Programme - Economic Affairs

Job Location

Positions may be available at various UN Secretariat offices, including Addis Ababa, Bangkok, Beirut, Geneva, Nairobi, New York, Santiago, Vienna.

Job Overview

Successful candidates will be placed on a roster and may be selected for two-year fixed-term contracts at the P-1/P-2 level. The positions are in the field of Economic Affairs and are focused on various sub-specialties such as macroeconomics, development economics, international economics, public economics, environmental economics, and more. The work is guided by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Compensation

Candidates selected from the roster will be offered a two-year fixed-term contract at the P-1/P-2 level.

Responsibilities

  • Economic and/or sector analysis:

    • Collect, evaluate, interpret, and analyze socio-economic information.
    • Prepare analytical studies of economic and sustainable development issues.
    • Prepare briefing notes and other materials on economic and sustainable development issues.
    • Maintain databases and assist in designing and using econometric models.
    • Assist in organizing expert group meetings and seminars.
  • Intergovernmental support:

    • Prepare inputs for reports
