Job Overview

McWane Ductile Ohio is a division of McWane, Inc., a family-owned business in Birmingham, Alabama. With over 100 years of operation, we manufacture Ductile Iron Pipe for the water and wastewater industries, as well as Utility Poles for the electrical distribution industry. As a Co-Op student, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in all facets of manufacturing and operations in a Foundry Environment. Through a blend of on-the-floor and in-office work assignments, you will develop a wide range of experiences in project management, problem solving, and interacting across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

As a Co-Op student at McWane Ductile Ohio, you will be responsible for:

  • Exhibiting general mechanical aptitude and learning to analyze and understand machinery at a fundamental level
  • Developing a working knowledge of fabricated products through engineering projects
  • Collecting information on processes, exploring what works and what doesn't, and making improvements based on lessons learned
  • Applying fundamental engineering principles and equations in a manufacturing environment
  • Discussing problems and designs with employees across all levels of the organization
  • Adapting to ambiguous and multivariant problems with resourcefulness and adaptability

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of 1 year of classes
