Job Overview

Camp Chewonki is seeking WoodWorking Activity Counselors to join our prestigious nature-based overnight camp and expedition-based youth leadership program. As a counselor, you will primarily be responsible for the WoodWorking Program, with opportunities to support other areas of programming. Ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children, spending time in the outdoors, and a dedication to lifelong learning.


  • Dates: June 9th-August 13th
  • Starting salary: $3,000 plus opportunities for bonuses with experience and certifications.
  • Travel stipend is added onto salary (determined by location you will be traveling from).
  • Offering up to $500 per person if you are hired and refer a friend as a West Side Cabin Counselor!*
  • Competitive salary within the camping industry.

  • Opportunity to do Wilderness First Aid courses for free.
  • Days off to explore Maine.

  • Lead the WoodWorking Program.
  • Support other areas of programming.
  • Assist in-cabin staff.
  • Support other activity counselors.


  • Applicants are not required to hold any certification or specific experience.
  • Some experience in crafting.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Ability to support campers using basic woodwork projects with pre-cut materials.
