Job Overview

The Pacific Crest Trail Association seeks a Social Media Intern to support our marketing and communications efforts. This position involves engaging with online audiences across social media platforms, managing content calendars, and responding to inquiries. The intern will have access to Employee Resource Groups, mentorship, and career development opportunities. The position also includes expanding online audiences through organic content, partnerships, and advertising.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with social media audiences, maintain brand consistency, and respond to comments and messages
  • Co-lead with the social media moderation team to evolve guidelines and address priority cases
  • Collaborate with the Content Development Director to create and share meaningful content on social media channels
  • Provide reports on campaign performance, engagement insights, and social scanning for trends
  • Research and test new tactics and platforms to attract new audiences
  • Manage the social media content calendar and coordinate with other publication deadlines
  • Develop and deploy marketing campaigns to increase organizational capacities
  • Assist and make recommendations to the Director of Communications and Content Development Director

Requirements

To be a great fit for this position, you should meet some of the following criteria:

  • Pursuing or have earned a degree in digital communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging values
  • Knowledgeable in major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Introductory knowledge of additional platforms like Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Familiarity with social media analytics, tools, reporting, and dashboarding
  • Introductory experience in professional communications and/or marketing skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences and understand different perspectives
  • Ability to foster positive online spaces and manage negative behaviors
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
