Job Title

Communication Intern – Full-time – Paid – Remote from OR, WA, LA, VA, or IL

Job Location

This is a remote position that can be based in Washington State, Oregon, Virginia, Illinois, or Louisiana. The intern must live in one of these states during the internship.

Job Overview

Minerva Strategies runs a year-round internship program to provide early-career professionals with valuable insights into work at a mission-driven communication firm and hands-on experience. We are currently looking for an intern to start in June of 2023.

Compensation

This position pays $25 per hour.

Responsibilities

The intern is an integral member of Minerva’s lean and dynamic team. They support Minerva team members and clients through a range of activities including:

  • Conducting research on topics ranging from a reporter’s recent coverage to policy debates
  • Monitoring all forms of media
  • Writing and editing web content, social media posts, marketing collateral, press releases, and other materials for clients
  • Creating interview preparation materials and discussion guides
  • Compiling and maintaining media contact lists, newsletter dissemination lists, and other databases
  • Managing Minerva Strategies’ Twitter editorial calendar; drafting and scheduling Minerva Strategies’ tweets
  • Assisting with new business efforts such as writing proposals
  • Posting blogs to Minerva Strategies’ WordPress website
  • Contributing to our organizational blog The Goddess Speaks
  • Conducting administrative duties such as scheduling and notetaking

Requirements

  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule for at least six months
  • Solid understanding of social media platforms (mainly Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and social scheduling platforms like Hootsuite and/or Tweetdeck
  • Proficiency with and/or willingness to learn Microsoft Office 365 suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly and move projects forward in a dynamic business environment
  • Reliable, clear communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with multiple colleagues in a remote environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture
  • Enthusiasm for self-directed learning and ongoing self-improvement, willingness to ask questions of supervisor and teammates in a fluid work environment
  • Illustrated interest in social justice initiatives, health and well-being, and/or community-based development efforts
  • Eagerness to join a company that is committed to being anti-racist and advancing racial equity in all our work
