Job Overview

The Modern Language Association (MLA) is seeking a communications and marketing intern for summer 2023 to promote the association’s resources for teachers and students, as well as the value of humanities studies. As an intern, you will assist with various communications, social media, advocacy, and content marketing tasks related to the MLA's programming and publications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing and aggregating copy for communications materials
  • Manage social media platforms and engage with subscribers
  • Audit and optimize web pages for improved visibility
  • Analyze data to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts
  • Participate in conversations about communications and marketing strategy

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational, writing, and research skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Familiarity with popular social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in the humanities and nonprofit communications and marketing
