Temporary/On-Call Technical Support Position
Job Location
Bath, Michigan (near East Lansing, Michigan)
Job Overview
- Support research activities at high-volume bird banding stations
- Assist with mist-net extraction, training interns, and engaging with visitors
- Data recording, net repair, and maintaining a clean and safe banding station
Compensation
Salary negotiable up to $15 per hour based on experience
Responsibilities
- Safely extract birds from mist-nets during net runs
- Train interns in mist-net extraction
- Communicate with visitors about research purpose and importance of bird banding
- Record data in the field and assist with social media posts
- Repair nets and maintain a clean and safe banding station
Requirements
- Experience working at high-volume banding stations with safe extraction and handling of birds
- Ability to train interns in mist-net extraction desired
- Reliable, adaptable, detail-oriented, organized, and professional
- Willingness to engage with the public and assist when needed
- Possess a reliable personal vehicle, driver’s license, and auto insurance
- Must pass background check and drug screen through Michigan State University
