Job Title

Temporary/On-Call Technical Support Position

Job Location

Bath, Michigan (near East Lansing, Michigan)

Job Overview

  • Support research activities at high-volume bird banding stations
  • Assist with mist-net extraction, training interns, and engaging with visitors
  • Data recording, net repair, and maintaining a clean and safe banding station

Compensation

Salary negotiable up to $15 per hour based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Safely extract birds from mist-nets during net runs
  • Train interns in mist-net extraction
  • Communicate with visitors about research purpose and importance of bird banding
  • Record data in the field and assist with social media posts
  • Repair nets and maintain a clean and safe banding station

Requirements

  • Experience working at high-volume banding stations with safe extraction and handling of birds
  • Ability to train interns in mist-net extraction desired
  • Reliable, adaptable, detail-oriented, organized, and professional
  • Willingness to engage with the public and assist when needed
  • Possess a reliable personal vehicle, driver’s license, and auto insurance
  • Must pass background check and drug screen through Michigan State University
