Job Overview

Symetra is seeking a Software Developer Specialist - Mainframe to join our Customer Relationship Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, optimizing, enhancing, and maintaining mission-critical applications/technologies. You will work independently and collaborate with business and technical subject matter experts, other developers, analysts, and vendors to ensure deliverables are met.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $117,900 - $196,500
  • Eligibility for company annual bonus program target of 10%

Responsibilities

  • Analyze functional application design and develop/test detailed programs
  • Help with day-to-day operational activities, research issues, and coordinate with managed service providers
  • Utilize application development tools and methodologies across multiple platforms
  • Mentor and coach application developers, interns, and associates
  • Support and solve critical production support issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent work experience may be accepted)
  • Minimum of 8+ years of development experience in relevant technologies/systems
  • Technical understanding of relevant technologies, business processes, and systems
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results
  • Accountability and ownership of technical strategy, design, and work output
  • Adaptability and ability to deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication with various levels of IT and business management
  • Implementation experience with waterfall/SDF and Agile development methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, .Net, C#, Mainframe, COBOL, and SQL development
  • Background in Insurance, Investment, or Financial business & systems preferred
