Job Overview
Symetra is seeking a Software Developer Specialist - Mainframe to join our Customer Relationship Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, optimizing, enhancing, and maintaining mission-critical applications/technologies. You will work independently and collaborate with business and technical subject matter experts, other developers, analysts, and vendors to ensure deliverables are met.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $117,900 - $196,500
- Eligibility for company annual bonus program target of 10%
Responsibilities
- Analyze functional application design and develop/test detailed programs
- Help with day-to-day operational activities, research issues, and coordinate with managed service providers
- Utilize application development tools and methodologies across multiple platforms
- Mentor and coach application developers, interns, and associates
- Support and solve critical production support issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent work experience may be accepted)
- Minimum of 8+ years of development experience in relevant technologies/systems
- Technical understanding of relevant technologies, business processes, and systems
- Track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results
- Accountability and ownership of technical strategy, design, and work output
- Adaptability and ability to deal effectively with ambiguity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication with various levels of IT and business management
- Implementation experience with waterfall/SDF and Agile development methodologies
- Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, .Net, C#, Mainframe, COBOL, and SQL development
- Background in Insurance, Investment, or Financial business & systems preferred
