Job Overview
The Crusader Newspaper Group is seeking a professional Graphic Designer to join our layout production team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing one of our two weekly newspapers, with the possibility of providing digital advertising support and analytical reporting if full-time.
Compensation
- Pay: From $14.00 per hour
- Job Types: Part-time, Internship
- Schedule: 8 hour shift
- Ability to commute/relocate: Chicago, IL 60637: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
- Work Location: One location
Responsibilities
- Skillfully and creatively layout copy, photos, ads, and images for newsprint and digital media
- Work methodically and meet deadlines
- Pitch creative layout ideas in a timely manner for implementation
- Collaborate with the editor and/or publisher on final content and layout ideas
- Adhere to workflow process to ensure checks and balances
- Pay attention to detail and consistently follow existing styles, formats, and repetitive updates week-to-week
- Demonstrate good verbal and writing skills
Requirements
- At least three years of newspaper and/or magazine production-related design experience
- Publication layout execution with occasional ad designing
- General understanding of the printing process
- Must be highly proficient in InDesign and all Adobe Creative Suite programs
- Degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is a plus
