Job Overview

The HQ National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) is seeking a Library Science/Business Analyst Fellow to support the administration of a national network of lands and waters for conservation and management. This fellow will focus on physical and electronic file organization and scanning to advance our digital file systems.

Compensation

  • Biweekly pay stipend of $1,440 (taxable) based on a 40-hour workweek ($18/hr)
  • Monthly housing stipend up to $1,400 per month (based on need)
  • Weekly commuting stipend of $25
  • Travel reimbursement up to $500 for relocation travel
  • Health insurance coverage

  • Paid time off (40 hours for every 6 months)
  • Sick Time (1 sick day per month)

Responsibilities

  • Assess and prepare analog records for digitization and shipment or destruction. Complete digitization process (25%)
  • Work with the Records Manager to develop digital files management standard operating procedures (20%)
  • Develop an electronic filing system and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) (25%)
  • Participate in strategic planning, trainings, conferences, and evaluation meetings (10%)
  • Support maintenance, recreation, and habitat restoration activities (10%)
  • Evaluate programs, prepare recommendations, and present findings to leadership (10%)

Requirements

  • Ages 18-30, up to 35 years for veterans
  • Possess US citizenship or US residency
  • Undergrad or grad student in data management, media asset management, archiving, business administration, public administration, or related degree
  • Strong organizational, data analysis, and technology skills
  • General understanding of file types and opening/viewing media files
  • Understanding of archiving, file naming, and organizational principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and learn quickly on the job
