Job Overview

  • The City of Morgan Hill is seeking an Economic Development Fellow to join their team.
  • This part-time position offers approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work around a school schedule.
  • The Fellow will assist in business retention, expansion, and recruitment programs and projects within the city.
  • They will also conduct research, provide information, and draft staff reports to support economic development initiatives.
  • Additionally, the Fellow will engage with community groups, assist with business outreach, and contribute to the Choose Morgan Hill website and social media platforms.

Compensation

  • Hourly pay: $20.00 - $35.00

Responsibilities

  • Participate in business retention, expansion, and recruitment programs and projects in the City of Morgan Hill.
  • Conduct research and provide information to support economic development programs and policies.
  • Draft staff reports to contribute to economic development action plans, goals, and strategies.
  • Engage with community groups and civic organizations on projects, programs, and policies.
  • Conduct business outreach to assist and communicate with businesses, property owners, and brokers.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding business development and investment opportunities in Morgan Hill.
  • Assist with website blog posts, updates, and social media posts for Choose Morgan Hill.
  • Provide support for meetings and events, including scheduling, setting up rooms, and performing administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with economic development principles and practices.
  • Ability to prepare press releases, brochures, flyers, and newsletters.
  • Knowledge of social media strategies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and establish professional relationships.
