Job Overview

At Arup, we are dedicated to sustainable development and socially useful work. We are seeking curious and driven college students to join our team as interns in the design of HVAC services within the built environment. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for complex buildings. You will also have the chance to perform engineering analysis and modeling, document system design, and communicate technical ideas to various audiences. Compensation

Responsibilities

  • Design Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) services with an emphasis on sustainable design.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions.
  • Perform engineering analysis and modeling, including whole-building load calculations and energy analysis.
  • Document system design using Revit MEP.
  • Communicate technical ideas through presentations and workshops.
  • Write reports documenting calculation methods, design assumptions, and other technical information.
  • Prioritize effectively and balance assigned work in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Influence sustainable outcomes for clients in alignment with Arup's sustainability commitment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Architectural Engineering, or Building Sciences related degree.
  • Coursework in heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, or HVAC design.
  • Developing interest in the built environment.
  • Proven leadership experience and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way.
  • Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and creativity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the US without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future to be considered for this role.
