Job Overview

Stifel’s Corporate Accounting Department oversees critical financial functions and ensures accurate and compliant financial reporting. As an intern in this department, you will gain valuable hands-on experience, develop practical accounting skills, and contribute to the overall financial well-being of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of regulatory reporting and corporate accounting processes, such as intercompany accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or corporate treasury.
• Gather corporate financial data, perform checks and balances, and maintain records of assets, liabilities, and profit and loss.
• Process paperwork, fill applications, file reports, and prepare journal entry support, basic calculations, and reconciliations.
• Document policies and procedures surrounding work performed in accordance with SEC and FINRA regulations.
• Create and maintain electronic records using various systems according to department policy and procedure.

Requirements

• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated track record of achievement in academics and extracurricular activities.
• Ability to understand and operate within systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial data, concepts, and associated terminology.
• Adaptable and flexible to changes within the accounting processes, procedures, and systems with the cooperation of others.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
