Job Overview

BDO is seeking energetic self-starters to join our Assurance practice as interns. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to utilize your educational background and organizational skills to support our dynamic client base. You will work alongside experienced team members who will provide direction, coaching, and learning opportunities. This hands-on experience will allow you to gain valuable insights into our firm's practices and people, while also developing critical relationships for your future success.

Compensation

Salaries for this position vary depending on qualifications, experience, skills, and location:

  • California Range: $31.00/hr - $39.00/hr
  • Colorado Range: $22.00/hr - $30.00/hr
  • New York City/Valhalla Range: $32.00/hr - $36.00/hr
  • Washington Range: $31.00/hr - $36.00/hr

Responsibilities

As an intern in our Assurance practice, your responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards.
  • Assisting with various stages of the audit process using BDO specific audit methodology.
  • Providing support functions to the audit staff during engagements.
  • Communicating with clients' customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
  • Preparing and documenting work in working papers using BDO specific tools and templates.
  • Contributing ideas/opinions to the audit teams and listening/responding to other team members' views.
  • Completing an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and presenting findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
  • Performing any other duties as required.

Requirements

To be considered for this internship position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting (required).
    • Pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Leadership experience (preferred).
  • License/Certifications:

    • Actively pursuing school credits to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Software:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).
  • Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to follow instructions as directed.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
    • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
